Description: Dr. Elizabeth Jacobs will speak on "Providing Patient-centered Care when Caring for Patients with Limited English Proficiency".
The conferences are organized by Dr. Susan Glick and sponsored by the Urban Health Initiative Center for Community Health and PCSF. The purpose of these conferences is to identify practical strategies for physicians working in low resource settings to improve the health of vulnerable and underserved populations. The group also aims to strengthen connections between medical students, residents, and faculty interested in this area.

Description: PCSF joined other University of Chicago groups to host a screening of the new PBS documentary Unnatural Causes. Approximately 185 students, faculty, staff, and community members attended the screening. Following the screening a Q & A session was held.

(a) Motivation to Service: What initially motivated you to dedicate your career to working in an underserved community? What hurdles did you face getting there?
(b) Challenges in Service: What have been the most difficult parts of actually working in the community? How have you negiotiated the potential differences (racial/ ethnic/ class,etc) between you and your patients? What has kept you motivated?
